Crow’s feet are made by the orbicularis oculi, the ring of muscle that closes the eye. Because that ring also does the genuine part of a smile, the goal here is never to stop it moving.

Why the goal is not to erase them

A real smile involves the eye. The orbicularis contracting at the outer corner is what separates a genuine smile from a polite one, and photographs read the difference immediately even when nobody can name it.

So the target here is the outer fibres only, at a dose that softens the depth of the lines without flattening the expression. An eye area with no movement at all in a smiling photograph is the signature of over-treatment, and it is more noticeable to other people than the lines were.

Dose and injection points

8 to 16 units per side, split across roughly three points at the outer orbital rim, staying at least one centimetre outside the bony margin.

Two things move the number: how much of the line is produced by squinting rather than smiling, and skin quality. Fine crepey lines under the outer eye often come from sun damage and skin thickness rather than muscle, and adding units does not touch them.

Injections stay lateral. Product placed too close to the lower lid can weaken the lid support and produce a temporary change in the eye's shape or, rarely, watering. Like the glabella, this is a technique matter rather than a product one.

What this area will not fix

If the concern is skin quality and laxity around the eye rather than the lines themselves, Ultraformer MPT is the tool that addresses that layer, and it is a different treatment with a different price.

Frequently asked questions

?How many units of botox for crow's feet?
Eight to sixteen units per side, across about three points per side. Both sides together count as one treatment zone.
?How much does crow's feet botox cost in Medellín?
$350,000 COP for both sides, about USD 110, as a one-zone package.
?Will it change my smile?
Not if it is dosed correctly. Only the outer fibres of the muscle are treated, which softens the lines while leaving the eye movement that makes a smile read as genuine. An eye that does not move at all when you smile has been over-treated.
?Why do I still have fine lines under my eyes after botox?
Because those are usually skin quality rather than muscle — dermal thinning and sun damage. Toxin does not treat them and more units will not change that.
