Patient safety is always the first priority. Before performing any Ultraformer MPT session, we conduct a complete medical evaluation to confirm that the treatment is appropriate for each person. This article describes in detail absolute contraindications, relative ones and special considerations for specific groups.
Absolute Contraindications
These conditions prevent Ultraformer MPT under any circumstances:
- Pregnancy: no evidence on safety in pregnant women; focused ultrasonic energy should not be applied during pregnancy.
- Implanted pacemaker or defibrillator: energy field may interfere with implanted electronic devices.
- Metallic implants in treatment area: plates, screws, metallic clips in facial or cervical area.
- Active infection or open lesions in the treatment area.
- Active herpes in the area (wait for full resolution).
- Active cancer in the treatment area or systemic without oncological control.
Relative Contraindications (Require Medical Evaluation)
- Recent dermal fillers (less than 2 weeks) in the area to treat — heat may affect injected material.
- Recent botulinum toxin (less than 2 weeks) — wait for effect stabilization.
- Active isotretinoin: wait 6 months after finishing treatment.
- Active autoimmune diseases like lupus, scleroderma or severe rheumatoid arthritis.
- Coagulopathies or chronic anticoagulant treatment.
- Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus: affects healing and tissue response.
Breastfeeding: Can I Get Ultraformer MPT?
Breastfeeding is not an absolute contraindication for Ultraformer MPT, as long as treatment doesn't involve the breast area. For facial and neck treatments, breastfeeding does not contraindicate the procedure.
However, we always inform the patient of the situation and document specific consent.
Facial Silicone Implants: What to Do?
Silicone implants (such as chin or malar implants) are not a contraindication for Ultraformer MPT, unlike metallic implants.
However, it's important for the doctor to know the presence and location of the implant to adapt the protocol and avoid direct energy application over the implant area.
